Charity shop volunteer (Clacton)
Our shops help us raise money for our Hospices that provides specialist care and support to adults and children living with complex or incurable conditions. Our values are: Care and compassion, Commitment, Community, Courage and Integrity and each of our volunteers help us to achieve our core values.
When you volunteer for us, there is a variety of tasks such as; Sorting donations, Steaming, rotating the shop stock, pricing donations, light cleaning duties, restocking shelves and any other reasonable duties designated by the manager in charge. Serving customers with a smile is so important.
The role also involves operating the till where people will come in to donate items and donating them under the Gift Aid Scheme which helps us a charity even more.
We would be looking for a 4 hour commitment each week but you can choose to volunteer more if you wish. We also take on duke of Edinburgh and work experience placements. Under 16s would require a work permit which is a process we will help you with.
We also offer training where you will look to complete training on our Gift Aid, Chip & Pin and Health and Safety. We also require 2 references.
For our volunteers roles we require satisfactory recruitment checks, maintaining confidentiality of charity information and adhering to GDPR (Data protection) regulations and carrying out your role to the best of your ability, enthusiasm and professionalism.
We look to cover out of pocket travel expenses (excluding taxes), offer a certificate of volunteering upon request, thank you events for volunteers, celebrating volunteer week and a named manager to support you in your role.
